The Great Resignation

The Great Resignation

With the great resignation upon us, many business owners are trying to figure out how to turn it into the great retention. Business owners are acknowledging the impact the employee experience has on their business from productivity, operational efficiency, customer experience and their bottom line.

This can provide small businesses with an advantage over large corporations to attract great talent. By realizing the value of your employees, you can effectively make positive change much quicker within small organizations versus their conglomerates. There is no one perfect solution for all businesses but it starts with awareness, reflection, and conversation. This is an opportunity to collectively create an engaged organizational culture and reverse the great resignation within their business. “Business as usual” is no longer an option.

Psychological safety, work-life harmony, promoting positive health and wellness, and the need for connection and purpose must be part of the solution to battle the great resignation. To slow the churn rate of employee turnover, absenteeism and declining quality of work, businesses need to consider implementing elements such as:

  • incorporating a recognition and appreciation program
  • consistent communication and feedback
  • development opportunities for employees
